Arsenal's hopes of winning the Premier League title have suffered a serious setback following the news that Theo Walcott has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The England international ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the FA Cup third round victory over north London rivals Tottenham at the weekend, meaning that the 23-year-old will also miss the 2014 World Cup this summer.
Anyone uncertain of the impact Walcott's absence will have on Arsene Wenger's title hopefuls need only look at the forward's contribution of goals and assists since the start of last season, with only three Premier League players having been directly involved in more goals since August 2012.
Walcott has his fair share of detractors, but nobody can deny his importance to the Gunners, who will certainly be worse off without the Three Lions speedster, who now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, as he begins his rehabilitation from injury.
