At the halfway mark of a fantastic campaign across the continent there are a number of shock storylines, with sides regularly competing at European football's top table well off the pace in their pursuit of silverware of a lofty league position.

Manchester United fans may be feeling particularly glum as they reel from losing three consecutive games for the first time in 22 years, but one of crumb of comfort can be that they are far from alone in failing to meet expectations.

With an unpredictable second half of the campaign on the horizon GMS has decided to name and shame the five sides likely to need an extensive overhaul before being considered Champions League or domestic title contenders once again.
