Dennis Allen will return as the Oakland Raiders coach in 2014, team owner Mark Davis has confirmed.

The 41-year-old has led the Raiders to back-to-back 4-12 seasons and had been tipped to lose his job; however, Davis revealed that the plan is to stick with him for a third campaign.

"We met this evening at the Raider facility, and the meeting went really well," he told "We talked about a lot of things, from personnel issues to the coaches to a review of the past season to the draft and our needs for next season.

"We're ready to rock and roll."

Raiders have not enjoyed a winning season since 2002 and work now starts on getting the team ready for the new campaign.

This will be the third year of Allen's four-year deal - but he is unlikely to see out the final year of his contract unless significant improvement is shown over the course of next term.
