Arsenal and Liverpool winger target Salomon Kalou is unlikely to leave Lille in the January transfer window, according to their club president.
Indeed, Michel Seydoux couldn’t even guarantee that €87million would be enough to bring the Ivorian international to the Premier League, admitting he’s been a big part of their success so far this season.
"Kalou? €87 million maybe,” Seydoux told reporters with a smile.
"For 5 or 6 million, it does not matter. There is no question [whether] he leaves.
"He is part of our plans and I think he wants to stay - a departure at the end of the season is not inevitable."
Kalou has experience in the English top flight from his time at Chelsea, spending six seasons with the club before moving to France in 2012.
Speculation has seen him linked with a move back across the Channel, with Arsenal one of the clubs linked.
The Gunners have made a fine start to the current campaign, and are threatening to challenge for the title once again under Arsene Wenger.
A lack of depth might prove their undoing at the Emirates Stadium however, and Kalou would have been a welcome extra body at Arsenal following the season-ending injury to Theo Walcott.
Liverpool are also in the title hunt this season, and have also been linked with a move for the 28-year-old winger.
Brendan Rodgers will know all about Kalou from his time with the Blues, and the Reds boss would certainly see the value in adding another body at Anfield ahead of a hectic second-half of the season.
However, it seems unlikely that Liverpool will be welcoming the player on Merseyside - unless their willing to spend an obscene amount.
