Man City step up interest in Man United, Chelsea & Arsenal target

Manchester City have moved ahead of their rivals in the race to sign Serbian star Nemanja Matic, reports The Express.

Matic, who has a €50m buyout clause, is wanted by the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, however it now appears that City are in the driving seat for the player's signature.

Manuel Pellegrini recently admitted that he could add to his City squad and it now looks like the Citizens boss will head to Portugal in order to take Matic from Benfica.

The Serbian midfielder previously played in the Premier League at Chelsea but departed the Stamford Bridge outfit in 2011 as flamboyant Brazilian defender David Luiz went in the opposite direction.

And despite Jose Mourinho's Chelsea interested in taking Matic back to England's elite division, he could now be heading to the City of Manchester Stadium.

However it remains to be seen as to whether the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea now step up their interest in the player.
