Manchester United boss David Moyes has suffered a setback in his attempts to sign Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio, reports The Metro

It had been reported that the Red Devils boss was willing to pay as much as £20 million for the Italian international.

However, it now appears the 27-year-old wants to remain at Juventus despite struggling for opportunities at the Italian giants.

The midfielder has fallen behind former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Artur Vidal in the side of late and it had appeared that Juve were ready to let the player depart the club.

But with the player set on a Juventus stay, Manchester United boss David Moyes may now have to turn his attentions elsewhere. The Red Devils boss has been tipped to sign in the January transfer window after a disappointing campaign so far.

Manchester United currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League and are in danger of missing out on the Champions League places this season.
