Manchester United hope to beat the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City to the signing of Ajax winger Viktor Fischer - and are reportedly set to make a €12m bid for the player, according to V-Bal.nl.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola confirm that the Premier League trio are joined in the hunt for the highly-rated 19-year-old by European champions Bayern Munich and Serie A title contenders AS Roma, but United appear to be the frontrunners for his signature at this stage.

Fischer, who has already made six appearances for the Denmark national team, scored 10 goals in 23 Eredivisie matches last season.

This term, the youngster has only managed to scored three goals in 15 league games, but this has not deterred Manchester United manager David Moyes from pursuing the Dane.

Moyes is determined to rejuvenate his out-of-sorts team with fresh blood during the current transfer window, although reports suggest that the Glazer family will only agree to the purchases of long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes.

Fischer, who does not turn 20 until June, clearly falls into the former category - but it remains to be seen whether Moyes can convince the talented winger to join the Red Devils over the other interested clubs.
