La Liga outfit Valencia want to re-sign Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata on a temporary deal, according to Portuguese journalist Gonçalo Lopes.
Mata spent four years at the Mestalla before sealing a £24million move to Stamford Bridge on a five-year deal in 2011.
The diminutive Spaniard became an instant hit in the blue half of west London - winning Chelsea's Player of the Year award during his first two seasons in the Premier League.
However the 25-year-old has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho, as the Portuguese tactician believes Mata needs to improve on the defensive side of his game.
Chelsea boss Mourinho has often opted to start the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar and Willian ahead of Mata.
Mata, who has been linked with a move away from the Bridge ever since Mourinho was named Blues manager, will be desperate to play first-team football between now and the summer in order to tie down a spot in Vicente del Bosque's Spain squad.
Chelsea are unwilling to sell or loan Mata to a Premier League rival - but may let the winger leave for Spain on a temporary basis.
