Did Adam LaRoche really kill a lion with a bow & arrow?

Adam LaRoche has caused controversy by posing with a dead mountain lion strung across his shoulders.

The most controversial aspect of the photo is that it was the Washington Nationals star himself that killed the animal.

Not content of ending the poor animal's life as quickly as possible with a rifle, LaRoche's choice of weapon was allegedly a bow and arrow, as reported by Buck Commander.

It is not known where the shooting took place but the hunting of mountain lions is legal in several states across the USA, with no suggestion the kill took place outside one of these designated areas.

Posted on Facebook on Tuesday, LaRoche can be seen with the deceased animal wrapped around his shoulders shortly after being killed.

With the MLB currently in off-season, the time off has been used wisely by the first baseman, who is known, obviously, to be a keen hunter.

Sports Illustrated report that some of his favourite hunting partners include Matt Light of the New England Patriots as well as Willie and Jep Roberts.

The remaining mountain lions of North America, as well as baseball fans, are eagerly waiting for the return of the MLB season, which is due to start of March 22 in Sydney, Australia.
