Manchester United and Liverpool will have to turn to other targets, having been snubbed by Sevilla ace Ivan Rakitic.
According to the Express the player has insisted that he is happy with the La Liga club and is not looking to move anywhere his month despite speculation suggesting otherwise.
Both United and their Merseyside rivals have been hot on the tails of the highly-rated Croatian playmaker for some time now, and previous reports have claimed that it was likely he would make a move to the Premier League at some point in the near future.
However Rakitic himself has now revealed that he will reject any advances from the likes of the English giants as is happy to stay at Sevilla.
The 25-year-old said: “"For the time being, I only think about Sevilla.
"I have important matches ahead of me and additional responsibilities as captain of the team, so leaving is not something I'm considering now."
Though Rakitic, who is having an exceptional season so far, did not specifically rule out a move in the future, it looks as though any hopes of either United or Liverpool securing him this month have been dashed.
