WWE legend Ric Flair has found himself on the end of some rather unsavoury fan fury - and all just for giving a pre-game team talk to the San Francisco 49ers.
Now, you might think this was a perfectly innocent thing to do. And you would be entirely correct.
But Flair, a Charottle, North Carolina native, has angered Carolina Panthers fans - and wide receiver Steve Smith - who think he's sold out his home-town team for the Niners'.
Flair was all set to watch the Panthers-Niners NFC playoff match-up this weekend, but he's now backed out after reportedly receiving death threats from irate Panther fans.
On Twitter, Charlotte Observer reporter Jonathan Jones said: "In a statement, Ric Flair's agency says he has received death threats from Panthers fans following his 49ers pep talk."
Seems a little extreme to send an ageing wrestler - now retired - death threats just because he attended another team's game. But, you know, fans will be fans.
It's just disappointing the Nature Boy will not be at the game. Truly devastating news.
Less of a "Wooooooooo", more of a "ohhh".
