Liverpool are set to renew their interest in Dinamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko, as talks over the transfer of FC Basel's Mohamed Sala reached an impasse, reports the Daily Mail.
The Ukraine international has scored eight goals in 16 league appearances this season, and has 14 goals in 38 caps for his country.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been credited with an interest in bringing the £15million-rated star to Anfield this month, as he looks to further strengthen his squad, to maintain Liverpool's surprise Premier League title challenge in the second half of 2013/14.
Salah had been heavily linked with a move to Merseyside in recent weeks, but it now looks as though Liverpool are ready to pull the plug on the deal, as the Egyptian's current employers continue to drive up their asking price.
It was reported during the summer by the Daily Star that Liverpool made a £19.7million bid to bring Yarmolenko to England, with his agent confirming the player's ambition to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Andriy Shevchenko by moving to the Premier League.
For whatever reason, that deal fell through, but now Rodgers is ready to renew talks with the 24-year-old's representatives, to try and thrash out a move before the transfer window closes on February 1.
