Although there is certainly no shortage of talent currently on display in the Premier League, in recent years a huge number of extremely-gifted footballers have left to further their careers overseas.

Such an exodus, many have argued, has seen somewhat of a reduction in the quality of matches across the country.

With reports today suggesting that Manchester United did speak to Real Madrid about re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, GMS began to ponder the plethora of names that have left the Premier League and ones that would be welcomed back with open arms in the future.

So here, GMS looks at eight players who have left in the Premier League in recent seasons that we would love to see return.*

Click through the list to view our choices and don't forget to leave us your thoughts in the comment box provided below.

Which of these players would you also like to see return to the Premier League? Realistically, do you see any of them coming back in the future?

Which players would you love to see back in the English top-flight?

*Please note, this is obviously subject to the writer's opinion and we have tried to avoid many of the bigger 'obvious' names, such as Ronaldo, Bale, Fabregas etc.
