The second Colombian to make our countdown and indeed another current Monaco player, with Ligue 1's newly-minted playboys splashing out a combined £60m to sign Porto pair Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez last summer.

Rodriguez accounted for £38.5m of that vast sum and the wing wizard is the focus of our countdown at this stage as Porto strike rich again, proving that scouting South America for gems they can eventually sells elsewhere is a particularly profitable venture.
