Arsenal are reported to have focused their attention on the acquisition of Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata as Arsene Wenger bids to reinforce his goalscoring department before the close of the January transfer window.

The Premier League champions are keen to recruit the youngster on loan following the long-term injury sustained by Theo Walcott, while further reports claim Wenger is also considering a formal offer of €18 million.

Morata is well regarded at the Santiago Bernabeu having scored 45 times in 83 appearances for Madrid's Castilla side and this season represents the 21-year-old's first full campaign in the first-team.

He has scored twice in 10 La Liga outings so far this term but, given the wealth of attacking talent at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti, Morata's starting opportunities will remain relatively limited.
