Barring a disagreement over the release clause, reports this week suggest promising Barcelona youngster Antonio Sanabria is set to AS Roma after turning down Arsenal.

The Gunners will be disappointed at having lost out on a player tipped as one of the most promising in Europe at the moment, but there are a few of them out there.

January has been relatively quiet so far, but expect the window to get a little bit busier as deadline day looms ever closer.

One thing GMS has noticed this time around is that there have been a number of exciting young players being linked with big-money moves to Europe's bigger sides, as teams look to invest in less established players.

Perhaps GMS has it all wrong and this is no different from previous years, but it got us thinking about the best young players in Europe's being heavily linked with transfers.

So, as is GMS's usual response to such ruminations, a top five was put together; GMS had a look at the starlets being linked with January moves and picked out the five GMS believes to be the most promising.
