5. Ryan Madson
Madson starred as the Philadelphia Phillies’ main set up man during their 2008 World Series run.
He became the Phillies’ closing pitcher in 2011, recording 32 saves and an ERA of 2.37. From that point, Madson’s career has not been a success.
He was picked up by the Cincinnati Reds in 2012 but did not play a game for the Reds after tearing a ligament in his throwing shoulder during spring training.
Madson was then signed on a one-year deal by the LA Angels but was released last August after not fully recovering from surgery.
