Arsenal look to be on the hunt for Roma's Mattia Destro, according to reports in Italy.
With Arsenal currently having Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain almost ready to return to the squad, the return of Chamberlain and the addition of Destro would be a welcome sight for fans of the Gunners.
The Italian news programme that broke the news also went on to to add that they believe that contact had been made between the club and the players agent Claudio Vigorelli.
Unfortunately for Arsenal it is believed that Roma are not willing to negotiate a deal that would see the 22-year-old apply his trade in the Premier League.
Destro has scored nine goals for Roma and has scored once for Italy in four appearances and is hopeful of a spot in the Italian World Cup squad.
Destro however faces stiff competition from the likes of Mario Balotelli and Giussepe Rossi for a place on the plane and is a dark horse.
Arsenal are the current pacesetters in the league and face a trip to Villa Park on Monday night. They will be looking to keep hold of their lead at the top as they are looking in great form as of late. Arsenal are yet to lose a game since their 6-3 defeat at the Etihad some four games ago.
With Wenger looking for a player who can take the pressure off Frenchman Olivier Giroud there is no doubt that an arrival would benefit the north London club a great deal in January especially after recently losing to Theo Walcott to injury against North London rivals Tottenham in an FA Cup clash.
