The Carolina Panthers are taking unusual steps to prepare for the upcoming divisional playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers.
As the team ran through defensive drills during practice Friday noise blared out from a large pair of speakers.
Now, while the Panthers have been known to pipe in crowd noise in practice before when going on the road to play a dome team or one known for having loud opposing fan base, this latest move clearly shows the Panthers are wary of the noise level in their own own Bank of America Stadium come Sunday afternoon.
The noise in practice was certainly enough for Panthers coach Ron Rivera:
"We were playing a little bit of just loud noise,
"I got a headache from it."
With a conference championship game at stake, and ultimately the Super Bowl, it is likely the home crowd will be at their loudest as they seek to help their team progress.
At least now we know the Panthers will be prepared, it just remains to be seen whether the 49ers will be too.
