Liverpool's January transfer plans have been dealt a blow with the news that one of their top targets will remain with his club.
PSG's Jeremy Menez, who has been continually linked with a move away from the French champions, will now remain at the club according to his agent.
He said: "Jeremy will remain at PSG until the end of the season."
This news comes despite a much-publicised row with manger Laurent Blanc earlier in the season, after which the French winger was temporarily kicked out of the side.
During a Champions League encounter with Benfica, Blanc refused to bring Menez off the substitutes bench, causing the 26-year-old to storm from the stadium in a fit of rage and make his way home.
Brendan Rodgers' side had been linked with a loan move for the France international, with a view to a permanent deal in the summer, but now it seems the Northern Irishman will have to turn his attention to other targets in order to carry on Liverpool's momentum from the first half of the season.
