Perhaps David Moyes thought a fresh start under a new manager and a new contract could coax the undoubted talent out of Nani at a consistent level.

It just hasn't worked and the Portuguese winger hasn't even be been able to make a minimal impact so far this season, though injury has affected him too.

The Old Trafford club are probably kicking themselves for handing him that new deal because it means it will be even more difficult to sell him, though you imagine a half decent offer would convince the Premier League champions to cut their losses.
