Shawn Thornton will return from his 15-game suspension for Saturday night's clash against the San Jose Sharks.
The Boston Bruins fan favourite was suspended after a brutal incident with Brooks Orpik in the Bruins' comeback win over the Penguins in December.
The suspension was the first in the player’s career, bringing its severity into question. The decision split fan's opinions as to whether it was too lenient or too harsh on the enforcer. Orpik returned to the Penguins line up two days after the suspension was upheld.
Saturday's game against the Sharks will be a chance for the enforcer to prove himself and hopefully give fans of the NHL an opportunity to forgive the veteran.
The game will also give the Bruins an opportunity to get back to winning ways after defeats in their two previous games against the Ducks and the Kings.
The Sharks come into the game off of a thrilling 4-1 win over Detroit, taking them to second in the Pacific Division behind the high-flying ducks.
The Bruins are currently top of the Atlantic Division with Tampa closing in fast.
Puck drops 10:30PM ET (3:30AM GMT).
