Playoff preview- Chargers confident ahead of Broncos clash

Can the San Diego Chargers beat the Denver Broncos and advance to the AFC Championship game?

Quarterback Philip Rivers certainly thinks so. Talking to the media earlier this week, Rivers said: " I think that gives you confidence, to know you can win, when you know you've done it."

Rivers was referring to the Chargers 27-20 win over Denver at Sports Authority Field in week 15 of the regular season.

The quarterback did concede that winning that game did not automatically ensure victory this weekend. "It's gonna be hard, they're a one-seed for a reason and they're a heck of a team." Rivers said.

San Diego's win on the 12th December against the Broncos was the second of four consecutive victories which catapulted the Chargers into the playoffs against all odds.

The Bronco's path to the post-season was a little different. With Peyton Manning at quarterback, Denver won 13 games losing three others by a combined total of 12 points on their way to the top seed in the AFC.

Of course the Bronco's were the top seed last year and that did not stop a 38-35 home overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens at this stage in 2012.

Linebacker Wesley Woodyard made it clear that loss was not on their minds; "We drawed on it the whole season.. Now we're not even thinking about it, we're not worried about last season and we're ready to go."

The Broncos will be aided in their quest for redemption by the return of  both Wes Welker (concussion) and Champ Bailey (shoulder) after injuries.
