Arsenal are ready to up their interest in the highly-rated Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles, according to the Daily Mirror.
Arsene Wenger sent his chief scout Steve Rowley to watch Forest play out a 1-1 draw away to Bolton in which Lascelles played all 90 minutes.
The trip was merely an update for Wenger, who has already sent representatives to watch the 20-year-old a number of times over the last few years.
Lascelles has been impressive for Forest since making his debut in the 2011/12 season and has been capped at every youth level for England.
Wenger has been on the look-out for an extra centre-back all season as he currently has just three recognised defenders to fill the position.
Thanks to injuries, Bacary Sagna had to be drafted in out of position several times early on this season, leaving Wenger searching for reinforcements.
Lascelles, a tall, athletic and skilful player, has all the hallmarks of a typical Arsenal player and, with his massive potential, Wenger is thought to be considering a bid in the near future.
With Forest pushing for promotion, it would take something special to convince BIlly Davies to sell halfway through the season.
Liverpool are also reported to have had scouts present at the Reebok Stadium for the same reason.
