Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not willing to confirm an interest in Manchester United pair Wilfried Zaha and Fabio da Silva, but admits he is still hopeful of adding to his squad before the close of the transfer window.

Solskjaer has already recruited Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Mats Moller Daehli, both former charges at Molde, during his brief stint in south Wales and has since been linked with a raid on his former club.

Manchester United are expected to make Zaha available for loan given his infrequent inclusion in David Moyes' first-team this term, while Fabio has made just one Premier League appearance all season.

Given the strong links he retains at Old Trafford it was inevitable Solskjaer would be credited with interest in players at his former club, but the ex-Red Devils striker would not be drawn on any specifics when the question was posed.

"I can't say anything on them [Zaha and Fabio] because they are players from Manchester United and I can't comment on players from other teams," he told reporters.

"I am looking at strengthening my squad, but I can't say names.

"It is not about the number. I will work with the players I have here but if the right one comes up then I will do business like I have with Magnus and Mats."
