Brooklyn Nets forward Mirza Teletovic appeared to have a little fun on Twitter this weekend, seemingly at the expense of one LeBron James.

The Heat squared off against the Nets at Barclays Center on Friday night, a hugely entertaining game that ended in a 104-95 defeat for Erik Spoelstra's reigning NBA champions.

Tensions between the two Eastern Conference teams threatened to boil over with about eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, with Bosnian Teletovic provoking the wrath of four-time MVP James by appearing to attempt to wrap his arm around his opponent's neck to prevent him scoring an easy layup.

Such a foul was not well-received by James, who reacted angrily on court and subsequently described the incident as "not a basketball play."

Teletovic was given a flagrant-one for the foul but seemingly could not resist the temptation to goad his rival once more on social media, with the 28-year-old changing his Twitter background to a picture of the ensuing scuffle.

He also posted a screenshot of the incident, accompanied by the words: "Five in row... Go @BrooklynNets :) lol ;)".

Despite that defeat, however, the Heat still sit second in the East with a 27-10 record, 2.5 games behind the Indiana Pacers. LeBron and co will have a chance to bounce back on Wednesday evening as they travel to face the Washington Wizards.

The Nets, meanwhile, have endured a wretched season to date yet are finally showing signs of improvement under rookie head coach Jason Kidd.

Next up for the Nets is a trip to London where they will face off against Paul Millsap and the Atlanta Hawks at the O2 Arena.
