2. Pete Rose- lifetime ban

In 1989, three years after Rose’s retirement from baseball, he agreed to permanent ineligibility after reports that he bet on the Cincinnati Reds whilst playing for and managing the team.

In 2004, Rose finally admitted betting on but not against the Reds.

Rose is ineligible for the hall of fame, a contentious point across baseball to this day.
