John Higgins is safely through to the quarter-finals of the Dafabet Masters, after beating Stuart Bingham 6-2 at the Alexandra Palace.

The two-time winner will now face defending champion Mark Selby in the last eight.

Higgins took the opening frame before a re-spotted black in the second saw Bingham level.

The world number 12 then reeled off four straight frames, including breaks of 94 and 109, to move within one of victory.

World number seven Bingham kept the match alive with a strong run of 91.

However, that was as good as it got for the former Premier League winner, as the four-time world champion eventually won a scrappy eight frame to book his place in the next round.

He will now take on the Jester from Leicester in the quarter-final on Thursday night.
