Arsenal overtook Chelsea and Manchester City to top of the Premier League table after a 2-1 victory away at Aston Villa.
Arsenal took the lead in the 34th minute after Nacho Monreal's pass found England midfielder, Jack Wilshere, who found the corner of the net to make it 1-0.
17-seconds after the restart, the ball was in the back of the Villa net again after Jack Wilshere played a fantastic ball to Olivier Giroud, who had returned from injury, who placed the ball past Brad Guzan to make it 2-0.
Aston Villa got a goal back from Christian Benteke, who headed the ball home to make it 2-1 in the 76th minute, the goal also ended the Belgian's 11 game goal drought. All though the goal lead to endless pressure from Villa, it wasn't enough for home side to get a equaliser against the Gunners.
Villa lost defender, Nathan Baker, early on in the first half after Germany starlet, Serge Gnabry's, powerful shot went straight into Baker's face. It was later confirmed that Baker had suffered concussion for a short period.
Arsenal winger, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, returned to the Arsenal team after the young Englishman picked up a knee injury the last time these two sides met at the beginning of the Premier League season where Villa famously won 3-1.
However, Arsenal lost veteran midfielder Tomas Rosicky late in the second half after the Czech midfielder was elbowed by Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor, which caused the Arsenal midfielder to get a nosebleed. Rosicky was substituted by Oxlade-Chamberlain.
