Former Tottenham forward Giovani dos Santos is being targeted by Italian club Fiorentina, according to reports.

After a disappointing few years in England, Dos Santos seems to be living up to his full potential in Spain with newly-promoted side Villarreal.

The Mexican has scored eight goals in 16 appearances for the Spanish side, including the equaliser against La Liga giants Real Madrid in their 2-2 draw.

Dos Santos only scored seven goals in the four years when he was in England and most came when he was on loan at Ipswich Town.

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp questioned his commitment as he was reportedly late for training on various occasions due to going to nightclubs.

Since he's been back in Spain, he has managed 19 goals in three seasons and has vastly improved as a player.

The 24-year-old has scored 14 goals for his country so far and will be looking to secure a first team spot in Mexico's World Cup squad.

The young forward has already played for eight different clubs in his career but has never played in Italy and my be persuaded to join by the lure of potential Champions League football.

Villarreal are currently sitting fifth in Liga BBVA, 16 points off the current leaders Barcelona, whereas Fiorentina are fourth, 15 points off run away leaders Juventus.

Fiorentina have also been linked with signing Anderson (Manchester United), Gaston Ramirez (Southampton) and fomer Fiorentina player Stevan Jovetic (Manchester City) as they push to get Champions League football next season.
