Jermain Defoe fails from the Raptors free-throw line

Toronto Raptors fans were greeted with a new pair of heroes to cheer on last night as the city's sporting profile continues to grow, although Major League Soccer's latest star striker Jermain Defoe failed to transfer his scoring talents to the Air Canada Centre last night.

Defoe and fellow Toronto FC newboy Michael Bradley were both in attendance as the Raptors earned an impressive 116-94 win over the Milwaukee Bucks yesterday, with the England international taking to the court for a series of free throws.

Raptors fans would not have been impressed with Defoe's efforts though, with a few failed attempts followed by a volley towards the net, although thankfully for Toronto fans the Spurs hitman will have a much bigger target to aim at when the MLS season resumes later this year.

Watch Defoe go 0-3 from the line and follow up with a volley with a video shot by a spectator at the top of the page, or by clicking here.
