Manchester United full-back Rafael da Silva has moved to extinguish speculation that he could leave the club either in January or the following transfer window at the end of the season.

The agent of the Brazilian claimed on Tuesday that reports linking Rafael and his brother Fabio with a departure from the club this month are false, although he added it was 'very likely' the duo would leave in the summer.

Rafael has since been questioned about this assertion by fans on Instagram and the 23-year-old was reasonably emphatic in his response, saying simply: "I'm not leaving."

The defender has made nine starts in the Premier League for Manchester United under David Moyes compared to a solitary appearance for Fabio.

Fabio's single outing came in the encounter with Crystal Palace in September, which Manchester United won 2-0, while he was sent off during the FA Cup third round defeat against Swansea earlier this month.

His future at Old Trafford would appear to be far less certain given the lack of game time he has been afforded, and Cardiff City has been touted as a potential temporary destination for Fabio.
