Arsenal fans are calling out for a new striker after injuries to Theo Walcott, Nicklas Bendtner and Olivier Giroud, so why would Diego Costa be the right choice?
The Gunners are currently on track to lift the Premier League trophy this season after a more than successful first half of the season. Arsenal have only lost three times which is the second lowest in the league after Everton.
The north London side have been haunted by injuries to their forwards throughout the new year, losing Walcott for the rest of the season and also Bendtner.
Luckily the French international Giroud has recently returned from injury and scored his ninth goal of the season against Aston Villa on Monday, but Arsenal lack depth up front and Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa would be the perfect fit.
With the absence of Walcott, Arsenal lack someone who can make runs off Giroud when he holds the ball up. They have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and young German star Serge Gnabry but they lack the quality of finish that Costa can provide.
The Atletico Madrid man is a superb finisher and has already scored 19 goals this season in the 19 games he has played in - only one goal behind Cristiano Ronaldo.
The striker is quick, strong and tall so would make a great option to play alongside Giroud.
If Arsenal are going to win the Premier league for the first time since 2004 they need to sign someone who can bring something different to the team, and a proven goalscorer. Costa is the ideal man.
Though he does come with a big price tag and with Atletico joint top with Barcelona as it stands, and the Champions League knock out round coming up it is likely that Costa will wait until the summer to decide his future.
