Chelsea have been made the outright favourites to sign Radamel Falcao before the January transfer window closes.

SkyBet have made Jose Mourinho's side as short as 11/4 to sign the Colombian hit man in this window with Barcelona, Manchester City & Real Madrid the next favourites at 16/1.

The short odds come in spite of reports that Monaco are looking for around €100m to sell the player they signed from Atletico Madrid just last summer.

Chelsea have been long-term admirers of Falcao having been linked with a move for the player ever since he scored a hat-trick against them in the 2012 Super Cup.

After his £52m move to Monaco, it seemed Chelsea's hopes of signing him were over but thanks to reports that Falcao has not settled to life in the south of France as well as expected, Chelsea's hopes were raised.

If Falcao decides to leave the Ligue 1 outfit, Chelsea will no doubt be first in the queue for his signature.

But the Stamford Bridge outfit may soon have a new competitor for Falcao's signature as reports emerging yesterday revealed that Valencia could be in line for a shock swoop should Peter Lim - Singapore's richest businessman - complete his takeover of the club.

Lim has promised a transfer war chest of €50m should he complete his move and has eyed Falcao as a potential marquee signing to kick-off his ownership in style.
