Liverpool set for Rodriguez swoop

Liverpool are set to make a move for Southampton star Jay Rodriguez, according to the Daily Star.

The forward, who became an England international in November, signed for the Saints in 2012, however he could now be ready to depart the St Mary's this month.

After Southampton's chairman Nicola Cortese quite the club yesterday, it has been reported that Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino could follow him out the door.

That could spark an exodus at the Saints and it appears that Rodriguez could be the first out of the door.

With Brendan Rodgers interested in taking the 24-year-old to Merseyside, it remains to be seen as to whether Liverpool will make a bid for the star in this transfer window.

Liverpool have lots of quality in their forward ranks and the addition of Rodriguez could further increase competition for places at the club.

After a strong start to the season, Liverpool are going in search of success as they look to secure their place in next year's Champions League.
