Dwight Howard has had an uncomfortable few years due to his disappointing stint at the Los Angeles Lakers, and now it seems the Houston Rocket is making sure he continues to go under the radar this season.

The former All-Star dunk competition winner has declined his invite to this year's competition. In 2007 he pulled a miraculous stick dunk, but it was in 2008 when he was more successful with a Superman gimmick.

Howard has provided plenty of entertainment for fans over the years, but this year he has politely declined.

This year's event is being held in New Orleans, which is the same place that he was successful in 2008.

The league extended an invite, but Howard explained his reasons to the Houston Chronicle for declining the offer.

“Couldn’t do it. If I wasn’t so old. I’m getting up there in age, man, I tell you. I got a lot of years," explained Howard.

“It was a night to remember [in 2008],” Howard said. “It was probably one of the best memories of me being in the NBA being in the dunk contest here in New Orleans. The fans were amazing here. Every time I come in this building, I get chills thinking about it.”
