Del Potro suffers shock second round defeat

Juan Martin Del Potro suffered a shock second round defeat to Roberto Bautista Agut under the lights at the Australian Open. 

Bautista Agut - the world No 62 - twice came from a set down to prevail 4-6 6-3 5-7 6-4 7-5, sealing victory in three hours and 53 minutes shortly after 1am local time.

Del Potro however was gracious in defeat and sung the praises of his opponent, saying: "I think he played a great match for the four hours."

This defeat will dent the confidence of Del Potro, however with the season only just starting, he will have plenty of tournaments left to rediscover his form in time for the French Open later on in the year.

As for Bautista Agut, his reward for the victory, is a third round match against 27th seed  Benoit Paire, who overcame a thrilling five set match against the 18 year old Aussie Nick Kyrgios.
