Manchester United have been dealt a transfer blow in their pursuit of playmaker Adam Lallana.
The Southampton midfielder had recently been linked with a move to the Red Devils, with reports earlier today claiming they were preparing to swoop for the £15million-rated player.
However, Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino insists that no player is for sale on the south coast, affectively ending the chances of the Premier League champions landing the player.
“I want to make one thing clear – no-one is for sale at Southampton. No-one,” he told his press conference.
The news means Manchester United manager David Moyes will have to look elsewhere in the transfer window, with the 25-year-old England international sticking at St Mary's.
A number of attacking midfielders have been mooted as Red Devils targets, with Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba two of the highest-profile names reportedly being coveted by the Old Trafford outfit.
And, with the Lallana deal now off the cards for Manchester United, the manager’s eyes will need to be looking elsewhere over the remaining fortnight in January.
