LA Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni will have one less player to choose from for the Lakers next game against the Boston Celtics after Nick Young was handed a one game ban by the NBA.
Young was involved in an altercation during the Lakers 121-114 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night.
After believing himself to be fouled as he made his way up for a dunk during the second quarter Young reacted angrily, throwing a punch at Suns' Goran Dragic as the two teams came together.
The Lakers player was immediately ejected from the game and now the NBA have punished Young further with this one-game ban.
The Lakers are already facing up to a depleted roster with the likes of Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash unavailable with injuries so the ill-discipline shown by one of their remaining fit players is not likely to have been appreciated by D'Antoni, who is seeking turn around a Lakers team with a 14-25 record.
Suns center Alex Lin, who was also ejected for his flagrant foul against Young, and forward Marcus Morris have both been fined by the NBA ($15,000 and $25,000 respectively) in relation to the same incident.
