Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan has revealed that he is open to the idea of leaving the club this month, though he has yet to decide his future, according to the Metro.
The German playmaker has been the subject of interest from a number of top European clubs, but it’s Manchester United who are thought to have made him a priority signing.
Reports even suggest the Premier League champions made a bid for him earlier this week, though Dortmund have yet to clarify the details.
And far from looking to quell the gossip surrounding his uncertain future, Gundogan has admitted that he has not rejected the idea of moving away from the Westfalenstadion this January.
“I have not made a final decision on my future yet,” the 23-year-old said.
“Dortmund are the first team I am talking to. I will soon make a well-thought decision. But I am keeping my options open at this point.”
It’s likely this particularly protracted transfer saga will go on until the situation has been properly resolved, but United’s interest doesn’t look like waning anytime soon with Gundogan having been identified as a key target.
