Manchester United are confident of securing the signing of long-term target Ezequiel Garay in the next two to three days, according to Sports Witness.
The source, citing Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, claims that David Moyes and co. are happily pursuing midfield targets because they feel assured that a deal for the Benfica centre-back is all but finalised.
It also states that United believe that due to Benfica needing money, as evidenced in their sale of Nemanja Matic to Chelsea, a deal could be wrapped up for less than the original asking price of €20million.
The United/ Garay saga has a winding history which stretches back to when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge at Old Trafford. At numerous points it’s been reported that the Premier League champions have been on the verge of signing the Argentina star, but a transfer has never come to fruition.
As such Red Devils fans will likely remain sceptical of any supposed imminent deal until an official announcement has been made. However United believe that in the next two to three days they will have their man.
