Manchester United manager David Moyes is keeping a close eye on Nick Powell's progress at Wigan Athletic, reports the Daily Star.
Moyes is keen on strengthening his midfield options during the January transfer window - but has so far failed to attract one of several targets to Old Trafford.
His search for a new midfielder could intensify over the next two weeks following Anderson's move to Serie A outfit Fiorentina.
Reports claim Moyes could recall Powell if Manchester United cannot land a new midfielder in January.
The 19-year-old starlet has been in fine form for Wigan Athletic both in the Championship and in the Europa League so far this season.
Powell has scored an impressive 10 goals in 25 games for the Latics since joining the club in September.
Wigan boss Uwe Rosler was delighted with Powell's brace against the MK Dons on Tuesday - but has warned Latics fans that Moyes could recall the attacking midfielder at the end of January.
“David Moyes knows me very well. He knows his players will be well looked after," said Rosler.
"We agreed we'll have another talk in the last week of January. The player is happy, David is happy and I'm very happy. So I hope it continues.”
