Anaheim Ducks star Sheldon Souray will miss the rest of the season with injury, reports ESPN.
The veteran defenseman, who has not played a single game this season, is now expected to undergo wrist surgery today.
The 37-year-old suffered the injury in the summer but will now have to wait until next season before he makes a return to the team.
Souray had a good season at the Ducks last year after getting seven goals and 10 assists, but he will now have to focus on returning to fitness.
However without Souray, the Ducks have been in fine form this season having won their last eight matches in a row. In their last victory, the Ducks eased past the Vancouver Canucks after securing a 9-1 victory.
And the Ducks will be looking for yet another win as they prepare to take on the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center tomorrow.
