All to often does a foreign star come to the Premier League, only to realise that the competition is too tough for them.
Admittedly a fair few transfers, particularly when conducted by the big teams, are completed with justifiable reason to believe that they will be a success- see Andriy Shevchenko at Chelsea- but for one reason or another they just aren't.
This window has already seen its fair share of rumours, with English giants being linked with a number of targets from overseas- most of whom will never end up plying their trade in the Premier League.
It's become something of a common trend that once a club has a registered interest in a player, he naturally becomes a transfer target for half of Europe.
Needless to say, once the hype and appraisal has died down it's very rare that you're left with a product that is good as the tabloid press promised.
