The quick nature of NHL always makes for spectacular saves but Predators goaltender took it to another level against the Flyers on Thursday night.
With the Predators holding on to a slender 2-1 lead in the third quarter, Carter ventured behind his goal to pick up a standard dump from the Flyers only to see the puck cannon off the side back in to Michael Raffl's path.
With the goal clear, the task was simply for Rafl, who decided to slot the puck calmly towards the net for the easiest goal he'll get all season.
But Carter wasn't giving up and, more in hope than agenda, dived towards the net from behind the goal only to find his right hand in front of the puck.
Players on the Predators weren't sure whether to laugh or cheer as Raffl tried to come to terms with what just happened.
There's almost no point waiting until December to award to save of the year. This is it.
The Predators ended up winning 4-3 in the shootout.
