Tottenham have made a move to bring Shakhtar Donetsk star Bernard to White Hart Lane until the end of the season, reports The Metro.
The Brazilian playmaker, who has also been a target for Arsenal and Barcelona, has struggled at Shakhtar this season and could now make a move to the Premier League this month.
And, ahead of the World Cup, it appears that the 21-year-old is hoping for first-team football in order to cement his place in Brazil's squad.
With Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood looking to make his first signing as boss of the north London club, Bernard could now head to White Hart Lane.
Tottenham's playmakers have all struggled this season having found consistency hard to come by in England's elite division. However it remains to be seen as to whether Spurs' north London rivals Arsenal enter the race for the player's signature.
Tottenham and Arsenal's immediate attentions will turn to this weekend's Premier League fixture list.
Spurs head to the Liberty Stadium to take on Swansea City, whilst Arsenal will be hoping to keep their place at the top of the Premier League as they host strugglers Fulham at the Emirates.
