Manchester United appear to have missed out on signing yet another midfield target as Koke has agreed a new deal with Atletico Madrid.
The Spaniard, who had been linked with a £30million move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, has pledged his future to the La Liga outfit.
His new deal will see him stay at the Vicente Calderon until 2018, while Atletico Madrid have also inserted a staggering £50million release clause into the 22-year-old’s contract in order to ward off interest from Manchester United.
Koke was said to be high up on David Moyes’ transfer wish-list as the attacking midfielder has all the qualities needed to plug the gap left by Paul Scholes.
Tom Cleverley, Marouane Fellaini and the recently departed Anderson have all tried to replace Scholes - but have been unable to impress Manchester United boss Moyes.
Moyes, who has been scouring Europe for new additions, will now have to turn his attention elsewhere or stump up £50million if he wants to prise Koke away from Atletico Madrid.
