Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke looks set to authorise the club's move for German star Julian Draxler, reports the Metro.
It had previously been reported that the Gunners would make a move for the 20-year-old in this transfer window, and it now appears the north London outfit will swoop for the midfield ace.
Draxler is already a full Germany international and is already closing in on 100 appearances for Schalke 04.
And with the star's buy-out clause set at £40 million, Arsenal could break the bank for another German ace before the end of this window.
Arsene Wenger will be desperate to end the club's eight-year trophy drought this season and, with Arsenal sitting top of the Premier League, the addition of Draxler would only improve his side's chances of a trophy in this campaign.
Arsenal's immediate attention will turn to their FA Cup clash with League One outfit Coventry City on Friday night.
