Manchester United: Who should stay and who should go?

After a stuttering start to his time at Old Trafford, David Moyes must be looking through his squad and assessing which players are good enough to move the club forward following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Moyes has inherited a squad which needs a shake-up from top to bottom. Ferguson got the best out of the players last year, but he got out at the right time and knew the difficulties would be there for the new manager.

I will look through the squad and pick out which players I think should be shown the door at Old Trafford.

I believe the following players should leave the club in the summer:

Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Anderson, Ryan Gigg, Javier Hernandez, Nani, Ashley Young, Fabio, Tom Cleverley, Antonio Valencia, Federico Macheda, Alex Buttner and Marouane Fellaini.

That's 13 players out 29 which I don't believe should be at Old Trafford next season, for a wide variety of reasons. Some are past their best but some are just not good enough for a club the size of Manchester United.

I have never looked at the reigning Premier League Champions' squad, whoever it may have been in the past, and thought that it needed a total revamp, but that shows the size of the battle Moyes is facing.

Of the 16 who I think should stay, I don't see all of the players selected as first team squad members. The likes of Nick Powell and Wilfried Zaha are players for the future, as is Adnan Januzaj, but I think that the team should be moulded around the youngster over the coming years, such is his talent.

I do hope the Glazers have a fresh pen at hand as I think they may be writing out a few big cheques in the summer. The big question now is, who do United need to bring in in order to mount a serious assault on the Premier League again next season?
