Here, we look at four of the biggest transfer flops in the history of the Premier League...
4) Juan Sebastian Veron
An expensive Manchester United signing that went wrong. Veron is one of United’s most expensive players ever and though he showed signs of brilliance here and there, he didn’t light up the league as we expected him to.
3) Andy Carroll
Carroll became the most expensive Englishman of all time when Liverpool bought him from Newcastle but he didn’t live up to the expectations which were probably too high for him. Carroll was way out of his depth at Liverpool and he was one of the most inconsistent players in the team.
However, now he has the chance to show the world what he is made of at West Ham United.
2) Andriy Shevchenko
The former Ukraine international is one of the greatest goalscoring strikers in history. When he made the move from AC Milan to Chelsea, many believed he would adapt easily to the pace of the Premier League but from day one he was a disappointment. Shevchenko hardly played and hardly scored and was one of the worst transfers of all time.
1) Fernando Torres
At £50 million, Torres was the most expensive Premier League signing of all time and quite frankly the biggest waste of money in history. Torres hasn’t lived up to his asking price, but has shown signs of the old Torres from Liverpool.
